| An ongoing project at Sequoyah Ridge Nursery has been Hastings' involvement in the San Francisco Zoo Quarantine Greenhouses. | |||||||||||||||||
| Working with other volunteers, and as a licensed USDA Import Permit holder, Hastings arranged to have greenhouses donated to the zoo specifically for the quarantine of imported bamboo. He's worked with the zoo, landscaping several areas to more resemble the natural habitat of the animals. Other work has included organizing monthly work parties for volunteers who replant, clean, and prune the bamboo areas. Sequoyah Ridge Nursery donated bamboo to the San Francisco Zoo project, and has arranged for bamboo donations from other sources. | |||||||||||||||||
